Project Title:
Calibrating Urban Livability in the Global South: Gendered Perspectives on Climate, Health, Governance and Policy
Project Duration: 1 October 2023 – 1 August 2024
The Urban Studies Foundation (USF), UK funded project Titled – “Calibrating Urban Livability in the Global South: Gendered Perspectives on Climate, Health, Governance and Policy” under the Seminar Series Award is a three-part series entailing two virtual events and an in-person symposium. Every event would have a workshop component. The overarching goal of this project is to provide an interdisciplinary research platform for planners, academics, practitioners, key stakeholders, and activists to contribute valuable narratives, research, case studies, and artworks, among other formats. This series attempts to provide a representation of gender-centric discourse informed by the on-the-ground experiences of women, along with domain experts and researchers.
Project Title:
Ensuring Livelihood Security Through Resource the Optimization Model for Tribal Areas of MP
Project Duration: 10 th March 2023 – 10th March 2025
The Indian Council for Social Science Research (ICSSR), SCD Division, Ministry of Education, Government of India- funded project "Ensuring Livelihood Security through Resource Optimization Model for Tribal Areas of MP" aims to enhance the economic stability of tribal communities in Madhya Pradesh by optimizing the use of local resources. This involves implementing sustainable agricultural practices, improving water management including irrigation facilities, and developing alternative livelihood options. The project focuses on capacity building, skill development, and creating market linkages to boost income levels and reduce poverty among the tribal population.
Project Title:
Resilient Infrastructure Planning for the Fragile Socio-ecological System of Wetlands
Project Duration: August 2023 – August 2024
The Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI) funded Project Titled - “Resilient Infrastructure Planning for the Fragile Socio-ecological System of Wetlands”, led by Dr. Surabhi Mehrotra (MANIT Bhopal) and Dr. Ksh Lal Bihari Singha (Manipur University), focuses on developing a people-centric framework for resilient infrastructure planning for fragile wetlands ecosystems, taking the case of Loktak Wetland of Manipur, India. This interdisciplinary research aims to protect wetland ecosystems and indigenous communities from extreme weather and unplanned development. Using the vulnerability assessment, community need assessment, and spatial analysis the project produces policy briefs, recommendations, strategies, and resilience framework for fragile socio-ecological systems of wetlands.
